Śārṅgadeva | Throwing light on Sarngadeva's work through music and dance

With the recently organised Aura Aurangabad fest, Mahagami, a city-based dance Gurukul concluded another event in the city with Sarngadva Samaroh –a one of a kind dance and music festival wherein they highlighted the works of Sangita-Ratnakara of Sārńgadēva. The evening at Rukmini Sabhagriha filled with performances that were based on musicological texts from India, both Hindustani music and Carnatic music. Day one of the musical fest commence with an Odissi Mardal ensemble that was performed by disciples of late Guru Banmali to which everyone were awestruck to their musical renditions. The musical mardal was followed by Odissi recital by Mahagami's director and well-known dancer Parwati Dutta and her dance troupe to everyone's encouragement. Aurangabadkar's cherry on the cake for the evening of day one was the Perini Natyam- an ancient dance form, performed by disciples of Guru Perini Prakash Group from Hyderabad. Taking the cultural history of Aurangabad to the World plate, the event saw an amalgamation of history and culture through music and dance.
